Random Resolutions for 2013
Wear More Sombreros (That one’s for you, @ZanyZeal )
Keep a candy dish on my desk at work. It makes people trust you more. I have no proof of that but it sounds good.
Don’t let the laundry sit in the chair as long before I fold it.
Remember to wear my reading glasses at the computer and when I’m reading. They really don’t help if I don’t put them on. It’s not like owning them improves my vision.
Laugh more with the kids. Care less about the mess.
Dust more. (does this conflict with the one above it?? Probably not since I think I dusted less than 5 times last year. Don’t tell anyone.)
Hug every kid every day. (clarify: every kid that is mine, I’m not magic)
Burn myself less while cooking. That bacon grease gets me a lot.
Complain less and complement people more.
Be cool more often.
Remember that time for myself is not a bad thing. It’s okay to ask for it and take it.
Remember to walk frequently.
Do some kind of abdominal exercise. (Is it sad I have to work that in this year?)
Stretch.
Say something every day that I’m thankful for. Today, it’s my Xanga peeps.

Ugh, I hate dusting. It’s like you do it once and 3 days later it needs to be done again. I’m with you though, I only do it a few times a year. :( I wish I had a maid…
Good random resolutions though!
Good list.
Good list. Good goals. Good luck!
Laugh more with the kids. Care less about the mess

those two were my favorites, although the entire list is great! good luck!
Laugh more is one of mine, too!!
Bummer. I thought maybe you could hug the kids I forget to hug. And I burn myself a lot too. Hate it! But at least you are frying bacon for those you love.
This is a great list. Almost every thing on it I could own. Here’s to a new year and more laughter.
So you could get your abdominal muscle workout in while folding laundry and your stretching in while dusting. That takes care of the four *ugh* resolutions, allowing yourself more of the fun ones like walking and hugging kids
And as an added bonus, if you’re doing the last two, you’re not burning yourself *grin*
For the record I don’t think you really need to work on the be more cool part — but that said the “wear more sombreros” would probably up your cool factor a wee bit more. LOL
I laughed out loud on your “hugging” kids clarification. “I’m not magic”
I hate dusting. Especially ceiling fans.
As for the bacon (oh I love bacon) try cooking it in the oven. I am a bulk bacon person so this is a great method. 375 for about 12-15 min. Put foil down first and clean up is a breeze. I like my bacon crispy.
How do you eat yours?
@zanyzeal - thanks alot tessy. the ceiling fans? really? innocence was awesome for as long as i had it. but now poof! it’s gone.
and i’m feeling new guilt about not dusting the ceiling fans. dangit.
love you.
beth, great list. i’m nodding in agreement along with you about these for myself. about the laughing, i immediately thought of the girl in prov 31:25 “clothed in strength and dignity, she can laugh at the days to come.” which always confronts me with my trust issues. yeah. i got issues.
feeling super thankful for xanga friends too. and i love that fact that you are one of them. and irl life. so “happy-jealous” of you and audrey r. recently. :) today i am thankful it’s friday. and about having lunch with a friend. and that it’s 2013.
@zanyzeal - @down_onthefarm - CONFESSION: If we’re counting ceiling fans, I dust once a month. I have a thing about ceiling fan blades. Apparently I’m totally cool with letting dust gather every where else in the whole house but I can’t handle it there.
@quiet_hearts - I like that you said, “Almost” everything on this list. It’s the sombreros that are holding you back, huh? Can’t commit to the sombrero.
@zanyzeal - Oh and I like my bacon crispy too. I may bake it sometime.
@aSeriesofFortunateEvents - I commend you
you are cool all the time. hard to improve on that.
on my list of resolutions is to be more beth-ish. when i think of you i think of genuine, hilarious, healed, redeemed, authentic, making-a- difference, …yeah, pretty much everything i want to be.
@mlt10202002 - That’s like, the nicest comment ever. I’m going to remember to come read it when I feel like crapola. thank you!
@zanyzeal - ceiling fans? you mean you have to dust ceiling fans? that is one thing i’ve completely forgotten in nearly 3 years.
Laugh more with the kids. Don’t let the laundry sit as long…. Hug MY kids everyday.
Laugh more… I love these. They’re not some pie-in-the-sky ideas, but real, everyday things that make a huge difference to the people around us. Especially the candy jar on the desk.
Great resolutions.
I love your list, especially the wear sombreros more part. Do we get to see pictures of that?
Happy New Years to you and yours!
The candy dish idea is interesting. I hide my candy in my desk because I’m candy stingy! I am confident enough to live without other people’s trust. ;). Just kidding!
I can relate to these.
If I’d have said to you that you’d post this back when you were first dating, what would you have said?
Like the list:) have you read the happiness project by Gretchen rubin? I think you would love it
this is a great list!! you are always cool…how in the world will you improve on that??!!??
I’m sorry. All I can think about now: Bacon grease and just plain BACON.
I blame you for this.
Number 2 seems legit. Lol. It made me snicker when I saw where you said to hug every kid that is yours because you aren’t magic. You have a good sense of humor! HA!
