A post for Dudes, and Ladies.
For Dudes:
On Valentines Day, I attended a function for work at which I got to meet a couple former Arkansas Razorback Football players. DJ Williams, domestic abuse survivor (with his mom and sister fled to an Arkansas DV Shelter when he was a kid, and later went on to be the most productive tight end in Arkansas football history and winner of the John Mackey award for the country’s top tight end. You know, if you are interested in that kind of thing). Now he plays for the Green Bay Packers. Oh, and he’s kind of hilarious. And single. He mentioned that several times.
I also met Jake Bequette, another former Hog who plays for the New England Patriots. He was tall. And hot.
(sorry, dudes) When I texted this picture to Steven he replied, “How far does he have to bend down for that picture?” I didn’t reply to it.
For Ladies:
Do you have that friend, the one that you’ve known forever and no matter how much time has passed you just pick up where you left off? I have that friend. (more than one, actually) My friend Rachel and I met on the first day of kindergarten. Since then we’ve been BFF and all the other letters too. We share a history. We’ve shared the almost exact same taste in books, music, and even a boyfriend or two along the way. We were college roommates for a year. We live about 3 hours apart and with, well, life getting in the way as it does we don’t get to see each other nearly as often as I’d like to. So this weekend, we just left our lives and went to Branson. Girls weekend. Just the two of us. We laughed and shopped and laughed and sat around and laughed. I also discovered, after all this time, we have something else in common that we never knew. We both love to take our pictures next to random things.
I do this all the time. Apparently so does she. Several times we’d spot something and pull over. She whipped into the parking lot of this baby just for a picture. I say, good call.
I had her turn around and go back so we could have our picture made with that cat, which actually turned out to be a dog, but whatever. Cat. Dog. Who cares?
This one was right by the road so cars were zipping by staring at us while we posed. It wasn’t a deterrent though, this wasn’t our first time.Do you know where this is? wink wink, nudge nudge
Also, saw this gem of a store. Everyone knows if you’re going to buy scrapbook stuff you also need to check out dulcimers. And yes, I did get some scrapbooking materials even though I haven’t scrapped in 5 years. I have plans. To one day begin again. (anyone else hearing Taylor Swift now?)
On the way home I got to run by my mom’s work and say hello. She only had a few minutes so I didn’t get her picture, (she hates pictures, ha!) And then I had lunch with my brother before heading home.
He refuses to smile in pictures. He was really smiling as soon as I put up my phone to take the picture it instantly disappeared. Like a reflex. A frowning reflex. What kind of 20 year old has a frowning reflex??After a weekend of a lot of driving and a lot of laughing, I’m glad to be home to a lot of laughing and a lot of yelling. I missed my babies.

So cool you got to meet the pro ball players! Love the picks of you and your friend. The best kind of friends are the ones that “can pick up right where you left off” especially when you are a mommy of many.
Best friend … I miss my friends now and then … They are far away in other countries since we parted at the college … they are gone to the other universities, worked in othe cities, got married or divorce, having kids … and we contacted using letters and cards, and exchanging photos between the years … Now, we contacting each other almost everyday at FB or Twitter … The internet make it all possible today.
You seems happy there! I love the one with the cat. Looks funny! hehe …
your posts always make me grin. and wish we lived a heck of a lot closer!
@SherryAngeLMysteriez - I love facebook for reconnecting with friends! It really is one of my favorite ways to keep up with people!
@mlt10202002 - I wish we lived closer too, how much fun would we have?!
@aSeriesofFortunateEvents - maybe TOO much. which may be why we aren’t allowed to live closer at this point. ha ha ha
@mlt10202002 - True. One state can’t handle the awesomeness of both of us.
I mostly concentrated on the “ladies” portion of this post because I have almost zero interest in football. But, I thought your weekend away with your girlfriend sounded AMAZING! I love it for you that you have an old bestie friend and that you guys made time to do something together. Your pictures beside all of the random stuff were too funny!
I can tell i am not cut out to be your road trip buddy. i never think to pose beside awesome stuff like that cat/dog and chicken. but i could learn, maybe.
because a weekend of shopping and LAUGHING sounds divine. I can’t wait to tell Weldon that you posed beside DJ Williams. posing beside him trumps the dog.
@lin789 - It’s really not hard. Anytime you see anything weird or unusual you just go stand by it and have someone take your picture. Before you know it you’ll start noticing things to take your picture by. It’s a very interesting habit, in my opinion.
So cool you got to meet those guys.
I’d say you scored big that weekend! My times with my best friend are SO treasured now. I love to see other people just enjoying their friendships!
And your weekend with your girlfriend sounded SO amazing. There is something so wonderful about being with someone who just gets you, and you get them, even in the thing of taking pictures with random objects.
Great post. How cool to meet those guys. LOVE the random pics..I do that. I haven’t scrapbooked in over a year (still need to scrap black belt pics) but I have plans too.
Fun times you silly girl:)
DJ Williams!!! not fair…but so cool. :) can’t wait to show that pic to jeff.
what a great weekend!
You are so much fun to read.
Scrapbooking is at a standstill at my house too.
@lifeisadance - I thought of you, Clarita, when I was tempted not to go and back out because I feel guilty leaving Steven alone with all the boys for that long. I thought, no, I need to take this opportunity because I may never know when I won’t get another one.
@stephensmustang - @quiet_hearts - Ah, the scrapbooking. I haven’t even started one for Isaac OR Oliver. But I want to! someday . . .
Another thing– I really wish you would have posed with the background guy in your brother’s picture. Because the side profile of him looks EXACTLY like a guy I used to crush on….How hard would that have been, really??
@lin789 - If I had known I totally would have. I do have a picture with another football guy that didn’t work out as well. I guess I could do that as a post. ha.
well i KNOW road tripping with you is a hoot!! next time we’ll jump out and take random pictures this way..
) love it!! what a gift to have a friend for life like rachel. those are so rare. and football players.. yep, hot!!
so glad for you to have a weekend away. those times are so refreshing!
i’m laughing about your steven’s snappy response.
time like THAT with a bestie like THAT and a history together like THAT—what a gift. so precious. there’s nothing like being with friends that “get you.” your posing with random things is hilarious. love it! sometimes we try posing next to someone without them catching on. like standing real close but their back is turned.
we don’t have dulcimers here. in fact, never heard of them. just one more thing awry in my life here in pa.
(let me know when i wear that word out. it’s really fun for me.) i just pulled out the boy’s school scrapbooks. to get some ideas to start on sarah’s. she’s only 12. i’ll catch up…right?
