Melancholy Monday
“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.” -C.S. Lewis
That quote pretty much sums up my feelings this fine day.
Two quick pics from the weekend below. The first one was taken by my sister-in-law while Alex and Isaac were at their grandparent's house this weekend. Why is it that you're with them every day but if they leave overnight and someone sends you a picture you see all the changes you miss in the everyday?? How is it that my baby is this big? When did that happen? What was I doing that I didn't see it going on right under my nose?
What is it about baby #5 that makes every single thing he does adorable? Is it because I know he's the last one? I'm less worried than I was with the other 4? Or is it because he really is just. that. cute. even when he makes grumpy faces?

hehehe, they're both cute!!!
I'm pretty sure that it's because he's your BABY! My mom was always that way w/our youngest sibling. It was sickening, LOL. But now I understand, as I have my own baby....aren't moms funny?
I LOVE the Lewis quote and it really expresses so well what we believe, doesn't it?
He really is just that cute.
I love C.S. Lewis and @TrentTribe recently shared that quote on my blog.
Kids just.grow.up.so.fast. Your baby is very cute and I feel the same way about mine, the 6th.
A hug to you today when you're feeling melancholy.
that quote, yes! been a week wherein i'm so glad, so very glad that we are not made for this place but for somewhere else. good words.
your oldest...before i even read your words, i was going 'how is it Beth has a son this grown up?!' he's a young man!
happy Monday~
that is a neat quote.
when my oldest was at my parents and my brother was over there I asked my mom who this was with my brother? one of his friend's and my mom said it was Steven my oldest and I couldn't believe it. lol
I do love that quote! As time goes by, it makes even more sense! Your little guy IS cute! How many times do you kiss those cheeks each day?!?
Great quote. I love CS Lewis. He is one of my favorite. I seem to quote him quite often.
One of my favorite quotes!
And it seems the older I get the more I'm aware of all that is wrong in the world, and the more it doesn't feel like home!
Feeling that same way lately....
And your son HAS grown up!! Is it his haircut or something, because he looks different than the last picture you posted of him!
And your fifth... Yes, it's just because he IS THAT CUTE.
xoxo
it's gonna sound like an echo
but it's true. that is a fav quote of mine too. i KNOW that this is not as good as it gets. which is good. doggoneit. errrr. thankyouJesus.
and what happened to alex is right! he does look so much older. i'm not even kidding when i say that i tucked little boys in bed one night and Big Man Size People came down the stairs the next day. what was i doing? probably the same thing you were---just resting up. that's all. maybe getting a karate belt too. i've heard of cool moms doing that.
i don't know about the fifth child...but everything you wrote applies to my baby and the fourth.
to you today.
@purpleamethyst76 - There we go with the sibling dynamics, huh? Me and my siblings are always saying that my baby brother gets away with stuff that never would have flown with us! lol
@foreveranoatneygirl_n2Hisown - @lifeisadance - GASP, he IS a young man now, isn't he?? UGH. Time is passing me by!!
@Richgem - a zillion, at least! He's very snuggly too, very much a mama's boy so I get lots of hugs and I'm trying to savor them all.
@quiet_hearts -@down_onthefarm - I guess when it comes to the baby of the family, us mamas just can't help ourselves! I like that idea, Cindy. You just put them to bed little and they come out men. What are we feeding them?? lol
Ha ha, they are all adorable I know. But I understand what you are saying about the youngest child. My daughter is the same way with her second son. (She had two sons). The youngest of the brood, whether he/she be the last of the two or the last of the five, always can take the strings of the mother's heart and play with them as he likes. You have a most beautiful family Beth.
Thank you for the Link on the Japanese camp from the Huffington Post. It was an eye opener. I did not know that there were camps like that in Arkansas. I thought the northwest was the only place where all the Japanese were taken. What a sad memory for him.
Both of your kids are awfully cute -- and you see them better when they're away because the growth isn't happening right in front of you!
@ZSA_MD - Sorry to go off topic -- but the Japanese were taken inland from wherever they were -- Manzanar in California is one of the most famous of the camps, and has been made a National memorial. They were interesting sociologically, and horrible at the same time. Reparation is only now occurring, after many of the residents have died!
@slmret - Thank you! This post has my oldest and my baby in it. I happen to think the middle three are cute too . . . lol! But they ddn't make this post.
They are nice looking boys. We had three close together and young. They were out of the nest in our early 40's. Time with your boys will pass oh so quickly. Enjoy them as I think you are.

@HUMOR_ME_NOW - Thanks, Frank! of all 5 of my boys, the last four are all 2 years apart. They were born in 2000, 2004, 06, 08 and 10. So much fun!
Great quote
Love the pictures... no matter what you do they keep growing. Zalen still at astonishing rates... he maybe part giant still unsure. Hope you have a great week!
love that quote! And your boys are just all sorts of cuteness! I hear you on how they just seem to grow up overnight and your baby really is just that cute even when he makes grumpy faces
Happy Wed!
@slmret - Thank you Janet. Every thing I had read about the camps, was in the north west part of the US. That's why I wondered about it.
